Boston Symphony Orchestra present its Youth and Family concerts with conductor, Thomas Wilkins, on March 3rd- March 6 at Symphony Hall.

Violinist Erin White, winner of the BSO Youth and Family Concerts Concerto Competition, will be the guest soloist on March 6, performing Sarasates Zigeunerweisen ("Gypsy Airs") for violin and orchestra.  This year's theme is "Driving Forces," based on the concept of having a goal, staying on course, and not giving up.  The program will include music by John Williams, Mozart, Rossini, Bizet, Dvoøák, Tchaikovsky, and Khachaturian.

The Family Concerts on March 6 will feature pre-concert activities from 9:15 to 10 a.m., including an Instrument Playground and instrument demonstrations, with a special harp demonstration. Other activities include “Exploring Opera” through which children can learn about opera story, costumes and sets, and have the opportunity to sing opera themselves; a “Meet the Composers” coloring activity; and a scavenger hunt, through which children can search Symphony Hall for clues to answer a series of musical questions.
